Marcie & Curtis

Saturday October 3, 2015

Autumn is such a beautiful time of year....from the colourful leaves to the golden Manitoban sunsets. This is why it remains one of my favourite seasons to photograph a wedding.  Today we went to the historic town of Gimli, Manitoba to photograph an amazing couple, Marcie and Curtis.
My first THANK YOU is to my very talented colleague, Jill Demianiw, who joined me today to be my second shooter.  Her creative eye and non-traditional style makes her images breathtaking and unique.
We met Marcie at the Waterfront Centre located in the heart of Gimli where she was getting ready with her bridesmaids.  The sun shown through the windows creating a beautiful glow in the room as we prepared to have her "First Look" with her parents.
Marcie looked radiant in her gorgeous wedding gown and cathedral veil.  Her jewellery sparkled as we headed to our first photography location. Marcie loved the old wooden piers that extend onto the Lake Winnipeg waters around the Matlock/Sandy Hook area so we knew this would be the perfect location for her bridal images.
It was meant to be......... as we pulled up to one of the piers, the construction team was already dismantling the beams for the upcoming winter ice.  We were so lucky to have the chance to sneak in a few images before the dock came down.

Marcie looked exquisite.  She has a beautiful heart and personality.  I could have photographed her all day!  Thank you Marcie for your everlasting energy and radiance, it was such a joy to capture your beauty on such an amazing day.
Marcie and Curtis were married in the afternoon at the Waterfront Centre amongst family and friends.  After the ceremony we headed to Camp Morton with the hilarious bridal party.

A huge THANK YOU to this amazing wedding party.  We shared in laughter, fun and who could forget the "sparkles!"

There is nothing sweeter than having children in the wedding party.  As everyone knows it can be a challenge or just plain fun.  A special thank you to this pretty little angel who I have know since she was only a few weeks old.  Her love for Marcie is endless and she was such a trooper for the day.
Curtis looked awesome in his grey suit surrounded my his groomsmen.  I loved this image that Jill captured.  Great Job!
Thank you Curtis and Marcie for being such a fun couple to photograph.  From walking in mucky sand to laying in a field of dead grass.........you both look fabulous!

Anyone who knows me, knows how much "I LOVE" working with wedding veils.  It's almost a weird obsession.  So, to all of my helpers, veil throwers, reflector holders and to Marcie and Curtis for their patience.......thank you!
Curtis and Marcie drove together in Curtis' car.  We had to capture this image along the side of the highway before heading to the reception.  The colours were gorgeous!
The evening ended with a beautiful reception at the Fraserwood Hall and the music of Kalyna (kaylna.com).  What a talented group!  The crowd filled the dance floor and sang along......such a wonderful night.
Congratulations Marcie and Curtis on your beautiful wedding day.   It was a joy to be with you both and I wish you many long years of fun, happiness and enjoying beautiful Manitoba Sunsets.

Jenny & Kyle

Saturday September 19, 2015

From every bride to every wedding day, my experience as a wedding photographer is always so different and so exciting.  When I met Jenny and Kyle a few years ago I could feel their excitement at our initial consultation.  Jenny was a planner but I never imagined that she would design such a perfect wedding.  I always admire event planners and people who take such care and pride in the small little details that sometimes get overlooked by the ambiance of the grand day.  Jenny and Kyle created a wedding that was fun, modern, a hint of tradition, but most of all true to the love they share for each other.
Our first stop was to the couple's home where we were greeted by the cheerful groom, Kyle and his entourage of pals sipping orange juice and snacking on McDonalds.  It was a typical crowd of boys hanging out, telling jokes and maybe throwing an egg or two and someone in particular. It was a fun way to be entertained and to start our day.
Terine (my wonderful assistant for the day) and I arrived at Jenny's mom's house shortly after.  I was greeted by the beautiful, Amber, the amazing hair stylist who was about to place the delicate veil into Jenny's head.  The veil was a perfect "something old" as it was her mother's veil.  Happy tears filled the room as Jenny sat in her white satin robe and adorable slippers while the last minute touches were done.

Kyle, the sweet romantic, arranged to have Jenny's "something new" presented to her moments before she stepped into her wedding gown.  Kyle's accomplice was Jenny's stunning sister, Kristin.  Very sneaky!!!
Jenny looked gorgeous as she stepped into her beautiful wedding gown.  She sparkled with excitement and looked absolutely gorgeous!

Jenny has incredible eyes and is so beautiful inside and out that it's hard to not fall in love with her.  She was my fabulous model for the day.  Thank you so much for your grace, beauty and genuine elegance, you are an amazing person and it was a pleasure to be a part of this amazing day.

I met Jenny and Kristin a few years ago and I can't thank you both enough for your continued support.  As a mom of 2 girls, I admire your sisterhood relationship.  It is a true gift to have your sister be your maid-of-honor and your forever BFF.  Jenny was showered with lots of love from her girlfriends, family and her mother before we headed off to the ceremony.

Jenny and Kyle were married in her Father's wonderful backyard.  They chose a unique tree-planting ceremony where they combined the soil from their childhood homes to be the foundation and support for their brand new baby tree.  A symbol of starting their new lives together.
After the wedding and family photos we headed to the amazing Gobert Farm to photograph the couple and the wedding party.  A special thank you to the Gobert Family for allowing us to come on your property to photograph such a historical treasure.  It was a truly amazing day from the warm sunny weather to a fun-filled group of friends.  We had a great time.

Thank you to my wedding couple, Jenny and Kyle.  I can't tell you how wonderful it is to have a couple who would be photographed in blistering snow, a hot-humid beach, and then to spend their entire wedding day with me.......you both are AMAZING!  I loved every moment working with you both and I wish you many years of fun, happiness, safe travels........and tons of dancing, flash-mob style.

Our night ended with one of the best receptions I have ever attended.  This is where the planning and attention to detail was essential and they pulled it off.  As the evening began we were introduced to the wedding party with a fun and creative video, it was like watching the Academy of Awards.....I was in heaven!  The evening continued with a delicious dinner, music, heart-warming speeches and dancing.  Jenny decided to have a giant group dance party to celebrate and even her grandmother joined in.  It was so wonderful to see all of these family members and friends singing, smiling and truly celebrating the wedding of Jenny and Kyle.  A perfect moment we could not forget.

Congratulations!

Becky & Brad

Saturday September 12, 2015

I met Becky and Brad only a few months ago.  Within minutes of spending time with them I felt like I was one of their friends.  They both have such a fun and easy charisma that I knew photographing their wedding would be a ton-of-fun, and it was.
I was so fortunate to have the opportunity to have the talented, Miss Whitney be my second shooter for the day.  Not only was she our personal stylist and stunt driver for the day but she brought a fresh new eye of photography to the event, thank you!
We arrived at Becky's home to see her adorable son sleeping soundly in his swing with the sounds of laughter from the kitchen as the girls got their hair done.  Becky looked so beautiful stepping into her wedding gown as her mother helped her with the last minute details.
A special Thank You to my past wedding clients, Andie & Dave and Fawn & Mark for your incredible referrals.  It was great to see you both and I am so thankful for introducing me to this amazing couple.

Becky and Brad shared their "first look" at the Stonewall Quarry Park.  I forgot how picturesque this place is with it's beautiful pond, trees & limestone towers.
Becky was so adventurous as she climbed up the rocks in her wedding dress to be photographed.  I thought to myself, "this girl is fabulous!"

We spent the early afternoon together as we photographed the couple at the quarry and the local fire hall where Brad is a volunteer firefighter.
Brad looked awesome in his pale grey suit and sporting his country boy charm with his fireman socks, aviator sunglasses and cowboy hat.

When Brad told me that his family had a love of classic cars, I had no idea what to expect.  I was overwhelmed and happily surprised.  We arrived at his grandparents home where his grandfather showed me his collection of vintage cars and one-by-one other members of their family drove into the yard in sleek, classic cars with the sunlight sparkling off the perfectly-polished chrome.  It was like a movie.  I was just waiting for the General Lee to come bursting out of Grandpa's shed.
Becky and Brad were married by a close family friend in a beautiful backyard ceremony with the reception to follow at the Argyle Hall.

We were so lucky to sneak away from the reception with the couple to capture a few stunning sunset images.

The night ended with hilarious speeches and stories shared amongst friends and family.  I have to admit that one of the highlights of the reception was when Brad sang a duet with the amazing and talented artist Jay Burns (www.jayhimself.com).

Thank you Becky and Brad for being such a beautiful and fun couple to spend such an amazing day with.
Congratulations!
