Robyn and Jeremy

Saturday July 19, 2014

I met Robyn and Jeremy just a few months ago but I felt like we had been friends for years.  They are both so kind, genuine and extremely funny.  My daughter saw Robyn at our final meeting and whispered to me as Robyn left to go to her car, "Mommy, I think she will make the most beautiful bride!"  Well… she was right.
We arrived at Robyn's sister's house at 11:00am just as Robyn drove herself up the driveway.  She came beaming out of her car wearing her satin white kimono that spelled BRIDE across her back, it was truly adorable.  Robyn giggled as her mom and sister helped her get ready for her big day.
Romantic… Elegant... Timeless, are just a few words that came to my mind as Robyn walked into the room.  I could see the tears in her father's eyes…. she looked amazing.  Robyn is one of those girls who defines the term,  NATURAL BEAUTY.  Her charismatic smile and thoughtful personality made photographing her an absolute dream.  Thank you for sitting in the mosquito grass, baking in the sun, and making it all look so darn easy.

I am not the only one who loved spending time with Robyn….. so did every single child that was at her wedding.  She seemed to be known as the favourite auntie… especially to her nieces.  Robyn had tears of joy as we photographed them together, she was so proud to have them as a part of her wedding day.
Robyn and Jeremy were married in the early afternoon at the Zion Lutheran Church in Beausejour, Manitoba.  After the ceremony, we met at the couples newly renovated home that used to be the site of a dairy farm many years ago.  Jeremy, is a proud 4th Generation Farmer and is currently farming the land that surrounds their home.
I have always said how much I love photographing a wedding where my backdrop has a true connection to the couple.  Whether it's at the cabin, the couples home, or at a family farm.  Robyn and Jeremy's property was paradise.  It had old buildings, a red barn, and fields…. lots of fields.

Thank you Robyn and Jeremy for inviting me to your amazing home but for also being so great to work with.  I don't know who was laughing harder at Jeremy's subtle humour, me or Robyn?  Jeremy's boyish smile and laid back domineer made photographing the both of you so much fun.  I don't think he even cringed as Robyn stood on the hood of his tractor……. or sat in the wheel…… but one thing is for sure, his love for his brand new wife.  He just smiled as she twirled around the yard in her dress.

Thank you to the wedding party for all of your kindness, energy, and fun.

Congratulations Robyn and Jeremy on your wedding day.  I wish you both many years of laughter, happiness, and many dances together in your wonderful wheat field!

The evening ended with a very entertaining wedding reception from paper airplanes, dancing, an ice-cream bar, and the talented live band known as, MIDSTREAM.

Brittany and Nathan

"Lets bring back Summer!"  The famous quote from the beloved snowman, Olaf, from the hit movie "Frozen", was a sentence I heard over in my head today.  After weeks of ongoing rain it was so wonderful to wake up to sunshine on the official first day of summer.
We arrived at Brittany's parents place around 9:30am where the girls were getting their hair done and Brittany looked adorable sporting a set of stylish rollers on her head.  I thought it was so sweet watching her help the girls with their false eye lashes and last minute touch ups.
Soon it was time for Brittany to get into her dress.  For the very first time in my wedding photography career, I watched the father of the bride tie up the back of the wedding gown. What a special moment.  A father is a daughter's first hero, a protector, and the man who could scare away any monster who might live under her bed.  As an adult, we forget about those little childhood memories, but as a parent we remember those days as if they were yesterday.  Throughout the whole wedding day, I could see the amazing bond that Brittany and Nathan shared with their parents.
Brittany had another admirer that morning, her little dog, Teagan who cuddled and kissed the beautiful bride.

Brittany and Nathan were married just after 12:00pm at the Peace Lutheran Church.  The ceremony was filled with laughter, joy, and a few tears as the couple exchanged their own written vows.

After the ceremony we headed to the historical Exchange District in downtown Winnipeg.  Thank you to all of bridal party for enjoying the sunshine and forgetting about the heat.  You were all so much fun to be with and we had a great time capturing all of the silliness and laughter you brought to the day.

It is not often that I meet a couple as young as Brittany and Nathan who truly have a grasp on their life and the people around them.  They both speak highly of each other as well as have a true love, admiration, and respect for their family and friends.  I want to thank you for asking me to photograph your memorable day.  You looked stunning and I had a blast working with you both.

The reception was held at the North Kildonan Community Centre.  The venue was decorated beautifully by family and friends.  Brittany's good friend, Rebecca, even made the elegant wedding cake.  The evening was filled with speeches, memorable moments and a ton of dancing.

Congratulations!
