Kirsty and Bruno

Sunday October 7, 2012

The wedding of Kirsty of Bruno marks my last wedding of the 2012 season and this being my last wedding blog until next year.  It was an amazing year of gorgeous dresses, wonderful couples and a variety of wedding venues.  Thank you to ALL of my couples, the friends, and the families for making this year full of magical moments and inviting me into your hearts and celebrating at the perfect party...a wedding!
My last stop...Fort Gibraltar...such a unique wedding get away celebrating French heritage, Manitoba history and friends gathering together.
A little bit of history...
Fort Gibraltar was originally built at the Forks in 1810 and was a fur trading post.  It was eventually destroyed but rebuilt here on the east side of the river by the Festival du Voyageur in 1978.  My family and I have spent a few fun-filled days here in the winter time and I always enjoy photographing a wedding.
This site was a perfect choice for Kirsty and Bruno as it celebrates Bruno's french heritage and it was a grand place to hold a small, intimate wedding.
Darlene and I met Kirsty at the Inn at the Forks for 11:30am where she was getting ready alongside her mom, sisters, and nieces.  Her wedding gown hung on a hanger in the adjacent room and it was perfect for Kirsty.  It was beautiful, elegant, and very classy.  I loved the delicate design throughout the fabric and it looked lovely next to the bridesmaid's ballerina pink dresses.

The Inn at the Forks was a perfect location to photograph Kirsty as it was chilly outside but the ambiance suited her vintage style dress.

We met Bruno and his best man for 1:00pm at Fort Gibraltar.  Bruno looked so handsome dressed in his tuxedo and greeting all their guests.  I especially enjoyed listening to him reminisce about his childhood days of visiting the fort with his family and friends.

Kirsty and Bruno were married at 2:00pm in the upstairs of the historic Fort Gibraltar amongst family and friends.  It was a lovely setting with candles, flowers and music.

After the ceremony we met in the courtyard for family photos.  The weather was perfect as the sun peaked out to give us a gorgeous blue sky and warm up from the chilly morning.  The staff at the fort were awesome as they even fixed Kirsty up a warm cup of tea to sip during her photo session.

One thing I noticed right away with Kirsty and Bruno was the love and affection they have for the "kids in their lives", whether it's family or a friend, these two love kids.  Kirsty and Bruno made a huge effort to greet, hug and play with every single baby/child that attended the wedding.  Wow...you are going to make amazing parents one day.

One thing I love about the fort so much is the variety and unique buildings that this site has to offer, it is a photographer's paradise.  I could not have done this session without a wedding party like this.  Kirsty and Bruno chose one attendant on either side...a sister and a best friend...it was perfect.  I'd like to thank both Gemma and Tristan for being such amazing friends, helpers, and stylists to this great couple.  You were an awesome team to work with and I enjoyed your magnetic charm that you both added to the photos.

Near the end of the session we were walking alongside the riverbank and noticed that the ground was getting very mucky so Bruno, being the strong french man...decided to pick up Kirsty and her sister (not at the same time) and escort them to safety.  Watch out "Festival du Voyageur" as you may have a strong man contestant on the loose!
Kirsty and Bruno, THANK YOU for being such a beautiful couple to end my 2012 season with.  I enjoyed spending the day with you and I admire the love and devotion you showed to each member of your family and friends.  I saw how you walked throughout the tables at your reception and greeted each guest.  It was a day full of love, laughter, romance and fun. You and Bruno have a genuine gift of devotion and you are definitely the object of each other's affection.

We ended our evening after a fabulous meal, heartwarming speeches, and lots of dancing.  The room was decorated beautifully under large majestic candelabras as each round table was dressed with candles and chocolates.

One highlight of the evening was watching Kirsty and Bruno play the famous "shoe game!"
Congratulations Kirsty and Bruno!
Darlene and I had an unforgettable time and I wish you many more years of true love and happiness!
