Rebecca and Craig

Saturday July 21, 2012

One of the things that I love the most about the wedding event is seeing each couple's personal style reflect and come to life throughout the wedding design.  Some of the most beautiful weddings that I have attended have been in the luxury of the couple's backyard.  It never amazes me how much hard work and attention to detail the couple, the family and friends devote to making this day a dream come true.

The wedding of Rebecca and Craig was held on their beautiful property in Richer, Manitoba.  My assistant, Darlene and I arrived shortly after 9:00am to the couple's home.  It looked fantastic.  Shaded under a large tree was hay bales with colour-coordinated blankets draped over top, a white tent, and sentimental items from poems, flowers, handkerchiefs, to photographs neatly displayed throughout the yard. Every detail added such a wonderful personal touch.
One of my favourite items on the list was the "outhouse"....the perfect privy!  It not only had a flush able toilet and running water but a basket filled with beauty products......just fabulous!
The yard was filling up with family and friends wanting to help with decorations and the set up, even Rebecca........yes the bride......was putting out vases of purple flowers.  Everyone was so excited for Rebecca and Craig.
Rebecca and Craig decided to have a private "first glance" before the wedding ceremony so Darlene and I headed to the Steinbach Heritage Village for 11:00am where we would meet up with Craig.
Craig and his best man, Jeremy looked fantastic sporting their black cowboy hats and suits.  Craig was smiling from ear to ear waiting patiently for Becca to arrive.  It was so cute.
Within 15 minutes she arrived with her sister, Beth.  The two sisters walked side-by-side giggling like two little girls until they saw Craig, turned with his back towards them.  Now the giggling duo were sharing tears of joy....and as Craig greeted his future bride you could see the love that they all shared.
It was a beautiful moment.

By noon the entire wedding party had arrived and we were ready to start photographing this amazing group of friends in the hot.....blazing.....sun!  Wow, what a fantastic bunch.  Yes it was hot...yes we all wanted to jump into the duck pond but I can not thank you all enough for toughing it out and giving Rebecca and Craig your undivided attention, enthusiasm...and smiles.  You were wonderful to work with.

Rebecca and Craig were so much fun to photograph.  They share a wonderful love of country living and have such a great positive energy towards each other.  Despite the heat, Craig still managed to put a smile on Becca's face with his humour and kindness.

One thing that I noticed about Rebecca is the love she has for her family and friends.  Her home is showered with photographs so it was a pleasure for me to photograph her as she made such a breathtaking bride.  From her cowboy boots to her vintage-style veil, I loved the detail and personal touches that she added.

To escape the heat Rebecca and Craig took their wedding party to the local bar (Cat Sass Tavern) to enjoy a quick "shot" amongst friends before they were whisked away to the ceremony via horse and carriage.

Rebecca and Craig were married shortly after 3:30pm in their backyard amongst family and friends.  The ceremony was filled with tears of happiness and laughter.  The biggest joy of the couple's life wrapped her arms around them both as they were pronounced "husband and wife" and that was of their sweet baby girl, Calianne.

Below is a picture of Uncle Roy with his 1970 Monte Carlo which was on display at the wedding as it has been a restoration project for Craig and Rob.  It looks AWESOME!

Following family photos was the dinner and reception.  It was a fantastic evening filled with great food, dancing, speeches, and a yummy candy bar.
I'd like to thank all of the family and friends for making this day so special for Becca and Craig.  I had such a great time meeting you all and sharing in your stories.
On a personal note, thank you to both Rebecca and Craig.  I enjoyed spending such a wonderful day with you both.  Your charisma and fun-heartiness made my day so much fun.

Congratulations!
